Thursday December 12th, 9AM-12PM
Please join Skagit Land Trust at our Barney Lake Conservation Area as we complete fence maintenance along a successful riparian buffer planting! During the work party, we'll be cutting back vegetation that is encroaching on an existing fence. Most of the vegetation we'll be cutting will be willow branches, which will be salvaged and planted as live stakes within another portion of our Barney Lake Conservation Area.
What to Expect: Fence maintenance involves using loppers and/or hand saws to trim back vegetation. Volunteers should be prepared to work around barbed wire. Accessing the fence will require volunteers to walk up to 0.5 miles across uneven and potentially wet terrain. Volunteers should come prepared for a day of physical activity. Due to the nature of this work, we ask that all volunteers are at least 16 years old.
