Children of the Valley offers meaningful volunteer opportunities in partnership with the paid staff to live out our mission of providing positive, life-changing experiences to the low-income children and families that we serve together.

Homework Tutor Position Overview
We are looking for homework tutors to assist with one or more children with their daily reading and homework. This position is available Monday-Friday, on a day(s) of your choosing. You can chose how many times per week you would like to volunteer. You can choose which grade level to assist with K-5th grade.
Schedule
Monday- Friday | 3:45-4:45pm
Wednesday | 4-5pm
Essential Job Function
- Listen and read to a child/children for 20 minutes from a book that is in their reading level.
- Assist the child with their homework for that day. If they don’t have homework from school the COV teacher will provide the child with an academic activity to focus on.
- You can choose which grade level to assist with K/1st Grade, 2nd/3rd Grades, or 4th/5th Grades.
- Our classrooms consist of 15-20 students and an Activity Coordinator.
- Our hope is to offer academic support for each child.
- You can choose how many times per week or per month to volunteer.
- We require that you be consistent with the time that you choose to volunteer. Our students build relationships with our volunteers and it impacts them when volunteers are absent.
Requirements
- Must pass a national background check
- Must be fully vaccinated against COVID19
- Must have transportation to and from the program
