Please join us in continuing to remove invasive ivy from a previously disturbed house site at Fidalgo Bay Carstens Conservation Area. This area has been planted with native trees and shrubs, and we need your help to remove invasive English ivy that competes with the plants for light and nutrients.
What to expect: We will meet at Fidalgo Bay RV Resort for parkign before carpooling to the property about 1/2 mile south along Fidalgo Bay Rd. The property is a long skinny forested piece between the road and Fidalgo Bay. We will be working on removing ivy along a hillside between the road and old house site. This will involve walking on uneven terrain, bending, kneeling, pulling, and using tools such as hand rakes, daisy diggers, and hand pruners.
Supplies to bring: Long sleeved shirt and pants, warm layers, rain gear, sturdy footwear, water for the day, snacks and lunch, and a backpack/bag to keep your personal belongings in during the work day.
