Skagit Animals in Need (SAIN)

Who We Are

Mission: SAIN prevents and responds to animal cruelty and neglect primarily in support of animal control and law enforcement.

Vision: Every animal is properly cared for in a manner that meets or exceeds Washington State law.

You can read all about us on our website (www.skagitanimalsinneed.org), but in a nutshell:

  • We rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome animals in need (primarily horses and livestock)
  • Our Animal Assistance Program provides nano-grants to local people who need help with food, farrier, or vet bills.
  • Skagit Pet Pantries provides dog and cat food to local food banks

What We Do

We have several types of volunteer opportunities:

  • Board Members: Help guide the organization and carry out operations
  • Foster Homes: SAIN pays for all expenses while our foster homes provide the daily care for our animals in rehabilitation and until they are adopted.
  • Event Volunteers: Help out day of events. We participate in a half dozen or so community events throughout the year and then we have our big Tack Sale & Raffle fundraiser in June.
  • Operations Volunteers: help us haul hay, horses and other livestock.
  • Animal Care: periodically, we need people to help groom horses, muck stalls, and feed animals.
  • Plus a variety of miscellaneous opportunities
