Volunteer: Program Support Volunteer

Skagit Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Services is seeking compassionate individuals to provide a wide range of volunteer services to support domestic violence and sexual assault survivors.

The General Support Volunteer assists Skagit DVSAS staff by performing clerical duties, assisting with custodial duties, and providing program support to advocates. The General Support Volunteer may also be asked to help with special projects; awareness events, fundraising, etc.

Qualifications:

Must successfully complete background check Must have excellent communication skills Must be willing to follow directions given by supervisors Must possess patience and tolerance Must maintain strict confidentiality of our clients and shelter Ability to handle the stress of crisis work and respond to many demands simultaneously Sensitivity and knowledge of the issues regarding domestic violence and sexual assault Ability to work with individuals from diverse economic, cultural and social backgrounds. Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with community organizations.

Volunteer: Direct Service Advocate

Are you interested in supporting victims and survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault? Do you want to end domestic violence and sexual assault in our community?

This volunteer opportunity provides hands on advocacy experience with crisis intervention and advocacy-based counseling. The Direct Services Advocate will have the opportunity to work directly with victims and survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.

Every Direct Services Advocate must complete and certify in our 42-hour Core Advocacy Training prior to service with clients.

Volunteer: Hotline Advocate

The Hotline Advocate responds to calls and provides advocacy, safety planning, crisis intervention, and resource referrals to domestic violence and sexual assault victims by providing coverage on our 24 hour hotline. Advocates are expected to provide high quality, fair, culturally-relevant, and accessible support services to all callers. Advocates are also expected to complete and submit all required paperwork accurately and promptly, and maintain hotline program records/files, documentation, and data entry as needed.

The Hotline Advocate must complete 42 hour DV/SA Advocacy Core training (provided by agency) prior to taking shifts on the hotline.

Hotline Advocates respond to hotline calls from Thursday 5 pm to Monday 9 am via an agency cell phone. We ask for Hotline Advocates to sign up for 1 shift every other month, at a minimum.
