Do you want to learn how a cafe and kitchen operate within a hospital? Volunteer with us and you can help provide a warm and friendly environment in the Coho Café. You will assist with basic duties in the café and dining room. The Coho Café provides nutrition for our patients, staff and guests. Help support this critical function within the hospital!

Primary Responsibilities:

Meet and greet patrons and provide them assistance in a friendly and positive manner Wipe down tables and straighten dining room Restock supplies including napkin dispensers, sanitation supplies and silverware Simple kitchen tasks including washing fruit and chopping vegetables Special projects of interest to be discussed with the Café Manager

We have a beautiful garden space at our hospital!

Several volunteers are needed to assist with the care and upkeep of this space. Activities include bed clearing, weeding, planting and more. Produce will be used to help nourish our caregivers and community.

Music has the power to comfort and soothe people, reducing stress, tension and anxiety. At the hospital, we’re always looking for ways to care for our staff and patients and live music can be an important part of healing. If you are a musician or Music-thanatologist, have a portable, non-electronic instrument (harp and acoustic guitar work well) and want to share your gift with our hospital community, sign up to volunteer today!

Primary Responsibilities:

Ensure quality music through the appropriate selections of songs and tuning of instruments. Work with the volunteer coordinator and caregivers to schedule visits throughout the medical center while maintaining flexibility for personalized referrals.

We are excited to meet you! 

The Reverie Harp is a music therapy instrument designed to be played by everyone regardless of age or musical skill! This lightweight, portable harp produces soothing music and healing vibrations. Volunteers will play the harp or help facilitate its use with patients.

In this role, you will work with our chaplain department to learn the instrument, it is simply strumming the strings to create relaxing sounds.  Our chaplain will also help in finding patients who may enjoy playing or listening to the harp.

We are currently looking for a volunteer who has availability on Friday afternoons. If you are open to learning new skills and have a desire to bring comfort to others, please reach out.

The Gift Nook is in the main lobby of United General Medical Center in Sedro Woolley. It is volunteer run and carries a wide variety of items to help brighten the day of patients and visitors. The Gift Nook is open weekdays from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm. All proceeds benefit the United General Auxiliary in their mission to support the hospital.

We are looking someone who can assist with cleaning displays, stocking shelves, and changing seasonal inventory. This is a great opportunity for students needing volunteer hours or looking to gain work experience. There is some flexibility in scheduling, and we can work with your availability.   

Primary Responsibilities:

Assist in pricing, stocking and displaying merchandise in the Gift Nook Dusting and wiping down displays Changing seasonal inventory Vacuuming

 Qualifications:

Show a friendly, positive manner with individuals of all backgrounds Responsible and willingness to take initiative Must participate in required initial and updated training Able to complete a pre-assigned shift on a regularly assigned weekday Comfortable using a step ladder to clean and stock high shelves and displays Able to carry/lift boxes up to 10 lbs. Minimum age requirement is 17 years old Creativity, with an eye for displaying inventory and decor is a plus

Dove Pantry Assistant

The Dove Pantry provides food and personal care items for caregivers in need. We are looking for an assistant to help with this important program. In this role you would come in for 2-4 hours a month and work closely with our Community Health Specialist. 

Responsibilities may include:

Assembling meal kits Organizing and tracking inventory Ordering products online

Possess strong verbal communication skills Show a friendly, positive manner and enjoy contact with individuals of all backgrounds Demonstrate a willingness to keep current with hospital and clinic happenings Responsible, outgoing and will to take initiative Experience working, volunteering or recreating in a healthcare setting a plus Must participate in required initial and updated training Ability to walk, bend and carry up to 10 pounds unaided Ability to operate and transport patients in a wheelchair

Be the face that greets our patients, visitors, and caregivers as they come to the hospital and help provide a warm and friendly environment! Patient Greeters sit at the front desk and assist with questions, directions, and escorting patients to their appointments.

Primary Responsibilities:

Meet and greet patients and provide assistance in a friendly and positive manner Escort patients to various locations throughout the hospital. Can include using hospital wheelchairs (training provided) Notify staff of patient availability, problems, needs, questions or concerns Help Front Desk staff with small tasks as needed

Experienced in customer service? Good with accounting? Enjoy chatting with customers and caregivers? Come volunteer and make a difference in our gift shop! Our little store is full of wonderful gifts, cards, candy and more. The United General Gift Nook proceeds benefit the United General Auxiliary in their mission to support the hospital.

Meet and greet Gift Nook patrons Complete sales transactions including counting change; operating credit card machine, adding machine and electronic cash register; and balancing transactions at the end of a shift Assist in pricing, stocking and displaying merchandise in the Gift Nook
