Team Project Idea: Shelter Supply Donation Drive
Engage in a meaningful group activity by holding a donation drive for families in crisis. The Family Development Center is a 10-unit apartment style shelter overseen by Community Action of Skagit County. The shelter is designed to house homeless families on their path to stability and prosperity by keeping family members together in one unit. The Family Development Center is constantly in need of specific items that aren’t commonly donated, such as the following:
- Alarm clocks
- Cribs, toddler beds with mattresses
- Mattresses, bed frames (full size, queen or single, gently used okay—please no stains or tears)
- Couches, chairs
- Department store gift cards, gas cards, bus tickets, phone cards, haircut gift cards/certificates
- Toiletries: feminine hygiene products, shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, body wash, lotion, deodorant, makeup, diapers, wipes and hair spray
- Shower curtains, liners and rods, bath towels, hand towels, wash cloths and kitchen towels
- Clean blankets and comforters in good condition (all sizes), bedding, towels, new pillows and pillow cases
- Kitchen pots and pans
- Home décor: lamps, baskets, rugs, framed pictures
- Gardening equipment
- Telephones, TVs, or DVD players
- Cleaning supplies, especially laundry detergent
