Difficulty:  Easy
Length:  6 Hours
Spots Available:  No Limit
No prior experience is required for this project.
Volunteers must have a daypack, lunch and water.

 


PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Volunteers will join PNTA staff in a day of trail maintenance at Squires Lake Park just off Old Highway 99 in Alger. Participants will meet at the Squires Lake Trailhead at 9am and brush and logout the PNT south toward Alger Cain Lake Road.

The project is rated “easy” and there will be fun tasks suitable for all abilities. There may be opportunities to use crosscut saws, go on a scouting hike while developing “trail eyes,” or do basic tread and drainage maintenance, if needed.

DIRECTIONS/ MAPS

Drive: From Bellingham

  1. Get on I-5 S from W Magnolia St and Lakeway Drive.  (5 min, 1.1 mi)
  2. Follow I-5 S to Nulle Rd. Take exit 242 from I-5 South. (9 min, 9.9 mi)
  3. Drive to Old Hwy 99 North (1 min, 0.6 mi)

Drive: From Burlington

  1. Get on I-5 N from E Fairhaven Ave and N Burlington Blvd. (4 min, 1.5 mi)
  2. Follow I-5 N to Nulle Rd. Take exit 242 from I-5 North. (10 min, 11.4 mi)
  3. Drive to Old Hwy 99 North. (58 s, 0.6 mi)

HOW TO APPLY

  1. Fill out a Volunteer Trail Steward Application. (If you have already submitted an application, proceed to step 2)
  2. Fill out a Volunteer Work Party Agreement, and be sure to tell us which event/s you are interested in.
  3. A PNTA representative will contact you to confirm your registration for a work party.
  4. The project leader will email you a Project Fact Sheet with more information and any updates.
