  Do you have a heart for helping others and want to volunteer from home? Disaster Duty Officers document disaster notifications and verify events, dispatch disaster action team (DAT) responders and monitor the response. May activate health services, mental health or public affairs.  Preferred qualifications: Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in complex and stressful situations. Demonstrated leadership and communication skills, speak clearly on phone and in person. Ability to remotely monitor and track details of DAT responses. Comfortable with technology. This is an on-call position that virtually supports the disaster action team. Volunteer: Help Those Who Are Impacted by Home Fires, Join the American Red Cross

Disaster Action Teams provide 24-hour emergency response to local disasters, particularly house fires, ensuring that those affected have access to resources for basic necessities such as food, shelter and clothing.

Our DAT team is responsible for:

Providing timely response to disasters and assisting those affected. Responding to disaster scenes as assigned by Team Leader within two hours. Meet the needs of those affected by disasters such as the need for shelter and food by providing Red Cross Services. Complete forms related to services provided. Provide referrals to other agencies. Communicate to Team Leader about availability and readiness on a regular basis.

Further requirements:

* Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively in person, on the phone, and by email
* Excellent problem solving
* Ability to be consistently respond immediately to notification calls and dispatch DAT when on call

*Both in person and virtual opportunities available.

The purpose of this position is to provide Disaster Mental Health services to people impacted by disasters and Red Cross workers during preparedness, response, and recovery.

Requirements: Hold at minimum a Master’s Degree in one of the mental health professions listed below;

Any U.S. state or territory as a social worker, psychologist, professional counselor, marriage and family therapist, or psychiatrist (any level license/registration, including non-clinical licenses such as Licensed Masters Social Worker or LMSW).
