Please join us for a day of habitat restoration work at Marblemount Conservation Area. We'll be planting 175 native trees and shrubs in open gaps along the Skagit River. After planting, we'll continue blackberry removal efforts throughout the Conservation Area. This work will build on past restoration work completed by both volunteers and Washington Conservation Corps crews at the site! If time allows, we'll also do some light trail maintenance.
What to Expect: Getting to the work area involves walking up to 1 mile on a maintained trail. Working in the planting area itself will require volunteers to navigate over uneven terrain and around obstacles like brush and downed branches. Planting involves digging, bending, and kneeling. Blackberry removal involves using loppers to cut back canes and shovels to dig out root balls. If we have time to complete trail maintenance, we'll be using loppers, handsaws, and rakes.
IMPORTANT: You must RSVP on our website, which you can do here
